If I had it my way...
Every year I seek to make my classroom(s)/office(s) interactive, fun, inviting—an experience. I always have theme that I change throughout the year (especially at the elementary level). Being an artist, I find any way to be creative and tend to “overdo it” as many say or feel, but I believe the classroom should be an experience composed of key component that makes for unity, an easy flow and encouraging to all learning types. I never use a “teacher’s desk” I sit with my scholars and if I must facilitate from the front of room on a board or something, I am standing and active. My dream class would be spacious! Plenty of room for working stations and reading/ discussion/ working circles, a comfy library and plenty of storage space for supplies and materials. The easel is outside of the door (I usually have an easel at door to serve as a “menu” style greeting for my scholars as they enter the room, they see a quick glance at the “DO NOW” assignment.
